Model Railroader Magazine Executive Editor Andy Sperandeo demonstrates how he makes the track on his home model railroad layout electrically reliable. He’ll show you how he solders wire feeders to the rails, bus wires, and track switches for good contact and smooth operation. Follow Andy’s tips and you’ll be on your way to trouble-free operation on your own layout, whether it’s a 4×8 or a large layout like Andy’s or Model Railroader’s MR&T.
@Mitch White of course it will
After the feeder wires, do you use solid or stranded wire?
audio and video are so out of sync
Can you expand on how you drilled the hole through your track, bed and plywood. You said music wire but that doesn't seem like it would drill a hole. Explain if you could.
Is conductivity really that much of a problem that you need to wire each track individually?
There are many factors in building a railroad layout. One plan I discovered which succeeds in merging these is the Jareks Hobby Club (google it if you're interested) definately the most helpful plan that I have ever seen. Check out all the amazing information .
All nice and well, but I know nothing about electricity. I'm willing to learn. Do you have a video explaining the "vocabulary," and the electricity, and how to do it. Otherwise this video does not help "me."
R.I.P. Andy.
I want to relocate my atlas switch machine to under the layout. Is that hard to do
Great idea. I've been making my own terminal connectors. Love the realism of it.
train guys are WAAAAY too anal and excessive about wiring, at least this isnt even near as bad as some ive seen.
