In part 2 of our video series we cover how to create customized panoramas with Google Maps and Street View products for adding photo backdrops to your model train layouts.
very good vid. as useual
Like a dog in a park, I dropped you a steaming pile of a comment 🙂 You do have some great videos and not to sound like Matthew Lund. A quick layout walk around would be cool
Great video Ron, yes there is a lot of good building idea on the interweb. Bob, Longshadowsmodeltrees.com
Ron great as usal, I used the Google maps to find out about the foutens of my railroad too, even though Kaiser Railroad no longer operates but the rails are still there, and thanks for the hints on looking for more info too, Jack
Thanks for sharing this information and how you work.
Another great video with a couple of terrific photo websites I was unaware of, thanks!
Additional sources for reference photos mostly for historic buildings and rolling stock include the Library of Congress American Memory Project photo archives. State libraries and library associations also maintain digital photo archives.
The BNSF locomotive 803 in the current livery is, as I'm sure you know, the same locomotive as the locomotive in the ATSF warbonnet scheme. When the locomotive was rebuilt, it was run through the paint shop.
Very informative video Ron! Thank a lot
Excellent. Opened my eyes to valuable tips on how to research railroad stuff. Can't wait to get started on research. I will be looking for roundhouses first. Thanks Ron.
Ron, besides being an N Scale Model Railroader I am also a Train Simulator enthusiast, and Train Simulator by Dovetail Games also includes the tools to build your own routes. Google Earth is also a great tool for building a real world route in Train Simulator. Within the Train Simulator there is a great deal of information on how to quickly turn Google Earth pictures into 3 dimensional drawings that can be converted to the proper type of file and placed into directly into a route where it belongs
To get pictures enter into your browser the phrase "fallen flags"and Google will give a list of web sites to check out, many with pictures.
Has anybody mentioned Pinterest. They have wonderful arrays of all kinds of things related to railroads – both prototype and model.
and another source of prototype photos is https://ozarkmountainrailcar.com/railEquipmentCategory.php
here's the kind of stuff that can be found on Pinterest. From today's postings.

Hi Ron, Great video But I'm not surprised. All of the videos I've watched have provided ideas for me to try on my HO layout… Bill
I’ve driven that stretch of US395 quite a few times and enjoyed how you incorporate that into your backdrop Thanks for the video
Very nice technique Rob.
This is great! Thank you. Results look really good. -Mark
Thanks for some great ideas, very much appreciate your time to put together the information.
